The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is the second-oldest independent and permanent air force in the world (after Britain's Royal Air Force). Its origins can be found in the Australian Flying Corps of World War I, but the Air Force was not established as a separate organisation until 1921.
Today the Air Force has an international reputation for expertise and professionalism. In times of need it has provided humanitarian and peace-keeping support both within Australia and overseas.
The Royal Australian Air Force has developed educational resource material to assist classroom teachers to educate their students about some of its aircraft (see the Education Resources section), operations and airbases. It also has a comprehensive website which includes information on careers.
