The journey of a letter
Australia Post makes sure that your mail is delivered as quickly as possible.
The post box
Your letter or parcel starts its journey when you post it in a street posting box or at your local post office.
Mail centre
Mail is sorted into different postcode locations by machine. Letters and parcels are sorted at separate centres.
Transport
The mail is then sent to a delivery centre in your state, in another state, or overseas.
Sorting for delivery
At the delivery centre, the postie sorts the mail into streets and post office boxes ready for delivery.
Delivery
The postie delivers the mail to house and business letterboxes.
